Overview
In the Technology Faculty at Horowhenua College, we aim for our students to develop a broad technological literacy that will equip them to participate in society as informed citizens and give them access to technology-related careers.
We provide all of our students with the chance to explore technology across a range of disciplines and year levels and learn to be practical, creative thinkers and problem solvers.
Facilities
The Technology department has a variety of well-resourced, specialised teaching areas. These include three machine workshops for Engineering, Carpentry, Automotive, and Design Technology. We have two fantastic kitchens for Creative Catering and a computer suite for Digital Technology as well as a specialised area for Architecture and Product Design.
Each year we look at what equipment will keep us up to date with current technological processes and provide opportunities for our students. Our students enjoy equipment such as a laser cutter, CNC machine, robots, vacuum former, drones, virtual reality headsets, and much more.
Courses on offer
We offer a wide range of NCEA courses that lead to many career opportunities for students in New Zealand and overseas within the Construction, Engineering, Automotive, Hospitality, Tourism, Design, Architecture, and Digital fields. Technology at Horowhenua College helps students gain apprenticeships, University Entrance, and work placements in all of these fields.
