About Levin and Horowhenua District

Horowhenua College (High School) is a state secondary co-educational school with approximately 700 students and 60 staff.  Founded in 1940, it is the longest established of the four colleges in the Horowhenua area.  We take students from years 9 through to year 13.  This is approximately 12/13 years of age through to 18/19 years of age, providing a complete education with an emphasis on preparation for tertiary education.

A Special Place to Study Abroad
Come and experience the ‘Real New Zealand’!  Levin, a provincial town (population 20,000) and is set between the wilderness areas of the Tararua Ranges to the East, with Lake Horowhenua and the coast of the Tasman Sea to the West.  Levin is surrounded by the farming community and is 20 minutes to the closest beach.  Horowhenua College is situated within close proximity:  35 minutes by road to Massey University, UCOL (Palmerston North) and Victoria University, UCOL (Wellington), 90 minutes by road.
