In the Technology Faculty at Horowhenua College we aim for our students to develop a broad technological literacy that will equip them to participate in society as informed citizens and give them access to technology related careers.

We provide all of our students with the chance to explore technology across a range of disciplines and year levels and learn to be practical, creative thinkers and problem solvers.

Technology has a variety of well resourced, specialised teaching areas in our own building.  These include three machine workshops for Engineering, Carpentry, Atuomotive and Design Technology. We have two fantastic workshops for Creative Catering and two computer suites for Digital Technology as well as a specialised area for Architecture and Product Design.

Each year we look at what equipment will keep us up with current technology and provide opportunities for our students.  We have recently included a lazer printer, a CNC machine, robots and virtual reality headset in our workshops.

Courses on offer

We offer a wide range of NCEA courses that lead to many career opportunities for students in New Zealand and overseas within the Construction, Engineering, Automotive, Tourism, Product Design and Digital fields.  Technology at Horowhenua College helps students gain apprenticeships, University Entrance and work placements in all of these fields.

We are very lucky to have multi-skilled, experienced staff who bring industry experience to their classrooms.
