"Artistic excellence makes the world sit up in wonder."

Overview

The Arts Faculty at Horowhenua College is a thriving and exciting part of College life. Our objective is to provide you with the skills and competencies to be creative and generate ideas about yourselves, your experiences, and to express and communicate ideas in a variety of artistic forms. We employ 8 specialist teachers in the Arts, including itinerant music teachers. Our courses aim to inspire and create confidence in the arts subjects. Our performances are high, with students regularly obtaining Scholarship in Painting, Design and Photography.

Facilities

We have a state of the art Mac Computer suite for Design and Photography students, large beautifully appointed art rooms (3), a Purpose- built Drama suite, and a Music room and practice rooms for offline Music lessons. Our School Hall is also used for Productions, Talent quests, Stage Challenge (we are top performers in the region) and the SGCNZ Shakespeare Festival.  We celebrate the arts with Nua Arts- an evening of arts performances and entertainment and awards for all things Arts.
