Further to my update of 28 July I had a telephone conversation with the principal of Ashburton College and we have collectively agreed a start date for Mr Grant Congdon here at the college. I am pleased to announce that Grant will start at the commencement of Term 4 2014, Chris Hartwell Board Chair Horowhenua College 28 July 2014 I wish to give you an update on the appointment of a Principal at Horowhenua College. Tēnā koutou e ngā Mātua me ngā Whaea Dear Parents and Caregivers Term 2 has been another busy term with both students and staff heavily involved in a multitude of activities. Alongside studying hard we have seen fantastic performances at Stage Challenge, CYN Concert, Shakespeare Nationals, Pasifika Fusion, Kapahaka Festival and winter sports. The list goes on. We hosted four members of the Hurricanes team with an injured All Black amongst them, Cory Jane. The local primary and intermediate schools enjoyed the first ever People’s Press Conference and asked many interesting questions of the players. This year to date we have welcomed two international groups from India and Vietnam and we look forward to two groups from Japan in Term 3. Dear Parents and Caregivers Parent Conferences are being held on Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th of March.  The conferences will be with Tutor teachers and will be held in their normal tutor rooms.  Students will be released at 1.05pm on Wednesday and there will be no classes Thursday. All students are expected to attend these conferences with their parents and will escort you to their tutor room for the interview.  Deans will be available in their offices in the administration area.  If you have yet to make an appointment with your child’s tutor teacher please contact the college office. 2012 has been another busy year with many changes. We are having to adjust to  change being the norm‘. We began with a roll explosion from the mid 600 to 730. We introduced a new student management system KAMAR which has made information and data collection easier and more accessible to all staff and seven new members of staff were welcomed to our College. There are changes a foot in education and for secondary education this has been seen through the introduction of Educational Pathways. Educational Pathways is a guarantee of free tertiary opportunities for all learners to achieve a foundation NCEA Level 2 qualification with clear pathways to further education and work.
